Hello from our students and teachers
Respect, Responsibility and Kindness
We are excited to show-case our work for this week (and some from last week)!
READING:
During our Reading lessons, we have been learning about inferencing the character's feeling, and Mrs. D would usually ask us: why is the character feeling that way? How did you know? What is/ are the evidence in the text or the picture. Hence, we now remember that inferencing means:
So, next time I do my "Reader's" at night, help me practise my skills, by providing me with some questions like:
What is the character feeling? Why do you think he/she/they are feeling that way?
What do you know when the people are _______ (sulking? crying? putting their head down?) How do you know the character is feeling ________ (unhappy, happy, anxious)?
WRITING:
Our writing session last week was a BLAAASTTT! We aced our 'Organisation' skills and we knew we were successful at writing our Narrative Story when we had our:
Beginning that includes ideas (what is the character doing), characters (who) and setting (when, where).
Middle that includes a lot of details - a problem/ problems with 2-4 events that the character tries and does not work.
Lastly, the Ending that includes the solution to the problem(s), and how the characters felt.
This is Mrs. D's Narrative Writing Modelling:
Lastly, we are heading off to add more details to our narrative writing, we are learning about Ahhmaazinng Adjectives, Stronggg Verbss, Sensory Language in the following weeks!
You can clearly see in this picture we are having an outdoor exposure with the Country, and we are yarning our way to discuss the things that we can see, listen to, feel, smell and perhaps taste (sensory language):
To know more about Yarning, kindly visit the NSW Website: https://education.nsw.gov.au/teaching-and-learning/aec/re-imagining-evaluation-framework/what-does-yarning-mean-#:~:text=Yarning%20involves%20respectful%20active%20listening,%2C%20and%20responding%20to%2C%20feedback
Through this activity, Mrs. D gave us an opportunity of a cross-curriculum, infusing Science and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples' perspective and knowledge.
HANDWRITING:
We are busy rotating at our different activities for this week, and weeks from now!
For this week, our rotation included:
Station 1: Working with the teacher to practise the letters b, f, h, k, l and t.
Station 2: Practise our spelling words using proper letter formation, in our spelling Worksheet.
Station 3: Practise the head to body letters (b, f, h, k, l and t) using sand, for sensory understanding and/ or play.
Station 4: Practise reading out the 'Golden words' then having others to write it neatly, in the lines, on the whiteboard.
Station 5: Practise writing the alphabetical words in the lines.
Kindly have a look at our different stations:
NUMERACY:
Mathematics is the Science of Patterns
We are excited to share our Pattern-making for this week's lesson in Numeracy! Mrs. D gave us an independent task on making patterns using the tactile things that we can see, feel and play within our classroom. Be it legos, kinetic blocks, dinosaurs, textahs, anything!
Tell us how did we go?
Photos: Students having a go at making their own patterns
Photos: Students recording their patterns in their Math Notebooks
Do you think we can make patterns at home? Hmmmm! Maybe patterns with utensils? or maybe Socks?! Well, you decide and give it a go!
INVESTIGATIONS:
Our investigations are packed up with some FFF~~UUU~~~NNN stuff relating to Push and Pull! We are learning about Forces (Science focus) for this Term! We pushed, pulled, stretched, rolled over, picked, lifted, slided, glided, jumped, scratched, leaped...etc.
There's a catch too! We learnt making Lilies using the following Procedure(s):
Have a great weekend from all of us, and kindly keep safe and healthy!
