Music & House Performance

House Performing Arts Festival

With two massed rehearsals under their belts now, the four Houses are well on their way with preparation for the big event next Friday 10 May. This is a student-led event with a collaboration from the House Captains and the Performing Arts team. Our student leaders have run auditions, chosen the songs for the massed items and selected their soloists and small group performers.

On performance day, all students are encouraged to wear something in House colours to add a touch of colour to the uniform. The Canteen bandannas are a great option can can be purchased through the school for $5, thereby supporting a great cause and representing through colour, support for House.

Autumn Twilight Concert

In the final week of last term, we held the first major musical performance for the year, the Autumn Twilight Concert out near the BBQ area. This concert gave many of our younger groups an opportunity to share with family and friends the work they had undertaken during the first term.

The concert was also the first performance for both our Year 7 Bands students and for our newly formed Year 7 Strings Orchestra and also featured the Junior Guitar Ensemble, All Stars Choir and finished off with the Year 8 Band. While it was great for our Year 7;s to hear the more experienced groups, it was a timely reminder for The Year 8 band of how far they have come since they were the 2023 Year 7 Band.

Music Camp

Applications for a place on Music Camp this year have now opened. We have been fortunate to be able to greatly reduce the cost of this camp this year in contrast to 2023. Places are limited and it is a case of first in best dressed. The camp is available to all students in the music program including those students who are enrolled in the ensembles. This camp is always a fantastic opportunity not only to accelerate progress through intensive playing opportunities, it is also a chance to explore different types of musical groups and a wide variety of non-music activities too. The Camp finishes off with a full concert for family and friends and an afternoon tea. All details are on Compass.
