Council Report

Well another year has passed since I last contributed to the newsletter on behalf of the MGSC School Council.

The last 12 months saw me back in the role as President of School Council after a year ‘off’.  Having been a student myself of MGSC, a parent of a more recent student who graduated in 2021, a ‘parent’ member of the school council for 5 years before now being a community member of the School Council,  I certainly feel I’ve gained a true 360 degree view of school matters.   As a community member of school council I can offer some views of the wider community including and understanding of the importance of the school image and reputation in the wider Bayside area.

I was so pleased to see all of the hard work from our teachers, students and broader school community being highlighted by the school’s excellent 2023 ATAR results with our school featuring in the top 20 Victorian government schools.  These results are something that our whole school should be very proud of and demonstrate how hard our teachers and students work together to achieve such fabulous outcomes.

I have now handed over the role of President of the School Council to another parent in Mark Murray and will continue to be a part of the school council as Vice President.  It will be great to have a fresh perspective being offered by Mark as he leads the council through 2024.

Wishing the whole MGSC community a great year and much health, happiness and success.
