College Matters

Dear Families,
Happy new year! Welcome to the 2025 school year! And just like that we are 3 weeks in!
We have had a fantastic start, with a wonderful sense of energy and enthusiasm across the school. Our teachers and students have settled in well, and we are already seeing great engagement in learning.
This year, we have made some strategic changes to enhance the learning experience. We started the year with some whole staff professional learning focussing on the Positive Classroom Management Strategies and the new Victorian Teaching and Learning Model 2.0. Teachers have thoughtfully rearranged their classrooms to allow for more active supervision, and students will be timetabled in common spaces to provide greater consistency in their learning environments. These adjustments aim to create a structured and supportive atmosphere for all students.
I have been enjoying my learning walks around the school, visiting classrooms and seeing our students in action. One of my highlights so far has been watching our Year 7 students learn how to use Bunsen burners in Science—such an exciting milestone in their secondary school journey!
Families should have received introductory emails from their child’s teachers, ensuring open communication and support throughout the year. If you have any questions or need to reach out, please don’t hesitate to contact them.
Our Year 7s have had a fantastic start, with teachers guiding them as they get to know their new surroundings and make new friends. A special thank you to the Parents & Friends Association (PFA) for hosting the Meet & Greet event on Tuesday 11 February it was wonderful to see so many new families come together as part of our school community.
We are all looking forward to a year full of learning, growth, and achievement. Thank you for your ongoing support—we can’t wait to see what 2025 brings!
