Foundation & Grade 1
Welcome to 2025! We had such a lovely first day all together. It was wonderful to see the Foundation students join in with lots of new and different things throughout the day from making new friends, enjoying our new playground, having a go at Kelly Sports and ending the day with our celebration for the Feast of St Brigid. The Grade 1 students have done an excellent job of setting a good example of the expectations we have at school, showing how to be safe, respectful and responsible and being so inclusive and friendly to their new classmates. 2025 is going to be a fabulous year with so much to look forward to!
Grade 2
The students have transitioned wonderfully into the Year 2SK class! Their enthusiasm and eagerness to engage in all our planned activities has been truly delightful—decorating (and then enjoying!) their cupcakes was certainly a standout moment. We were also excited to welcome a new student, Braxton King, to both our school community and the Year 2 class. It has been heartwarming to see how kind and welcoming everyone has been in helping him feel at home at St. Joseph’s. More class information will follow in our Curriculum notes in the coming week.
Grade 3/4
Miss Eade - The Grade 3 and 4 students have hit the ground running this week! They’ve been fully engaged with the new Magnify program, watching inspiring videos from Martin from the Resilience Project, and are excited to start using their very own iPads. It’s been a week full of energy and new experiences!
Miss Sortino - The Grade 3 & 4’s have had a wonderful start to the new school year. We have welcomed Moni into our space and settled beautifully into our routine. We are looking forward to working alongside one another and learning together! We have so many things to look forward to this term and throughout the year. We are grateful for our new school playground, having iPads one to one and having Science be a part of our specialist program.
Grade 5/6
Welcome to the 2025 school year! I am excited for the year ahead and look forward to working in partnership with you to support your child’s learning and development. The students have transitioned smoothly into their new classes and have already demonstrated a strong sense of engagement and enthusiasm. As they navigate this important stage of their education, we will continue to foster independence, critical thinking, and personal growth. Developing meaningful friendships and demonstrating respectful, responsible behaviour will be key focuses as we work together to create a positive and supportive learning environment. If you have any questions or would like to discuss your child’s progress, please don’t hesitate to reach out via Seesaw or email us at ylupa@sjrochester.catholic.edu.au or mjohns@sjrochester.catholic.edu.au. We look forward to a fantastic year ahead!
