Meet Our Principal Team

Our Principal Team plays a vital role in shaping the direction and culture of Birranga College. Through their leadership, they support our staff, guide our students, and work closely with families to ensure our college remains a safe, inclusive, and engaging place for all.
Mr Nick Hamer- Smith
Mr Hamer-Smith, Birranga's College Principal loves working with students because of their compassionate hearts, curious minds and confident leadership skills. He enjoys being part of such a fantastic community of staff, students and families. His biggest hope for our first year is that everyone feels a strong sense of belonging. Inspired daily by our Birranga students, he values the impact education can have on young people. Mr Hamer-Smith loves his three-legged greyhound cross named Ginny. Outside of running Birranga College, he enjoys hiking, writing poetry and one day hopes to go white water rafting in New Zealand.
Miss Kate Pizzey
Miss Pizzey is Birranga College's Assistant Principal for Wellbeing and Engagement. Her focus is helping students feel safe, feel like they belong, and grow into the best version of themselves. Working with young people has always been a passion for Miss Pizzey and helping them to succeed in life is a key focus of her work. Before joining Birranga, she worked in various roles in secondary schools and within the youth justice space. Miss Pizzey runs Art club on Tuesdays and is always inspired by our creative students. Outside of school, she enjoys travelling, reading, and spending time with family and friends.
Dilanthi Adhikarige
Our business manager Dilanthi enjoys seeing the growth and progress of Birranga students and loves being part of such a rewarding school environment. She values the opportunity to support the College while managing school finances within a limited budget. Dilanthi hopes to continue her very own education in the future. Her favourite movie is Avatar, and she follows both the Sri Lankan and Australian cricket teams.
