What a busy week! The Foundation students have settled in well and are busily learning all the new routines!
Just a Few Helpful Hints!
Blue Folders
These come back and forth from home and school each day. Please ensure you check inside the folders for important notes. You will find their photo form, school information handbook and a book club form in them this week. The students will also use them to safely house their library book they have borrowed, and it is also where their reader folder will be placed each day.
Reading folders will come home next week in your child’s blue folder. Term One involves practising the letters and sounds we have introduced in class, making words with these letters and reading to your child. It is important to note that there is no expectation for your child to read the books we send home this term. They are for you to share with your child. (More information will be sent home in the reading folders)
Fruit Snack
At school we have two healthy fruit breaks, at 10:00 and 12:30. It is very helpful if the fruit is kept in a smaller container other than their lunch box. Each morning the students place their drink bottle and fruit snacks on their desk.
Birthdays
As a special treat for student birthdays, students are allowed to wear casual clothes on this day (or near).
Hats
We have a no hat, no play policy at school. Pleas ensure your child’s hat is at school each day and clearly labelled. Having the names embroidered on clothing is a great way to keep track of belongings!
Our Timetable
Monday – The students will have Physical Education with Miss Ryan. On this day they can wear their sports uniform. They will also have a Visual Media Arts Lesson/Library borrowing on this day with Mrs Gabby Wiles. They will need to bring their library book back to school in their blue folders on Monday’s.
Tuesday - Specialist classes (changes each Term). This Term the students will be having a lesson on Media Arts (Visual) and a lesson on Design Technologies. These subjects are taught by Mrs Mel Clydesdale and Mrs Gabe Florence
Wednesday – Mrs Allen and Mrs Newman with take the students for a follow up Sports lesson. Students can wear their sports uniform on this day.
Mrs Nat McCallum will be a classroom teacher on Thursday for Kelly Newman and on Friday for Teresa Allen as we continue our work in Leadership.
Foundation Rest Day
We will continue to have Wednesdays as a Foundation Rest Day for a few weeks yet. Their last Rest Day is Wednesday 4th of March. Students will come to school after the Long Weekend for four days in a row and full time from then on!
Assemblies
Each Assembly a student from each class will receive a Mercy Award. Classes also take turns to lead a prayer and present on stage. All parents and guardians are warmly invited to attend our assemblies. (We will notify you if your child is receiving an award.)
