Charles Houen Memorial Scholarship for 2026

We are proud to congratulate Year 12 Legal Studies student Charlie Malone on being awarded the Charles Houen Rotary Scholarship, presented by the Rotary Club of Wagga Wagga Sunrise.

This scholarship honours the legacy of distinguished solicitor Mr Charles Houen, a respected senior partner of Creaghe Lisle and a dedicated community contributor who served numerous educational, charitable and community organisations. With the assistance of a scholarship himself, Mr Houen completed a double degree in Arts and Law at the University of Sydney.

Charlie Malone was selected for this award following a written application and interview process,  in recognition of his outstanding commitment to Legal Studies and his active involvement within the school and wider community. Having successfully completed Year 11 Legal Studies and now undertaking the Year 12 course, Charlie has demonstrated a genuine passion for the law and intends to pursue further studies in a law discipline at university following his completion of high school.

The scholarship, valued at $500, supports local students who aspire to careers in law and who embody strong academic and personal qualities. Charlies’ achievement is a testament to his hard work and enthusiasm for learning, and we are delighted to see his efforts recognised by the wider community.

Two additional Year 12 students, Sophie Baskerville and Celeste Crain, were also selected for interview as part of the competitive selection process. Their inclusion reflects the enthusiasm, commitment and diverse strengths of our Legal Studies cohort, as well as the positive contribution these students make to our school community.

We congratulate Charlie on this well-deserved achievement and look forward to following his future success in the field of law.
