Principal Message

To the Kildare Community,
The 2026 school year is well underway and students are settling into their learning routines. We have been impressed by the positive way students have returned to school and the way they are engaging with their learning. We are meeting with each year group over the next few weeks to set up for a positive year of learning and provide opportunities for students to make individual learning goals. Our expert staff are ready and dedicated to supporting all students to meet their goals.
We have had a number of events including our High Achievers Assembly, Opening Mass and Swimming Carnival.
Our Opening Mass was an important opportunity for us to come together as a College community and ask God for blessings for the school year ahead of us. This year our Opening Mass was celebrated on an important day in the liturgical calendar - Ash Wednesday.
As Lent begins, we have encouraged students to turn to our Gospel values by donating to Project Compassion, or through daily acts of kindness in our College community. Many Catholics use Lent as a time to “give things up” and this year Pope Leo XIV is calling for us all to “refrain from words that hurt or offend our neighbour”. This message was shared with students on Wednesday and we talked about a commitment to treat others with kindness and care. Peace begins in our own community.
The Pope’s message is a powerful one in a world that needs dialogue and reconciliation. His Lenten message is a call for us all to be people of peace and speak words of hope.
“Let us begin by disarming our language, avoiding harsh words and rash judgement, refraining from slander and speaking ill of those who are not present and cannot defend themselves,” he said. “Instead, let us strive to measure our words and cultivate kindness and respect in our families, among our friends, at work, on social media, in political debates, in the media and in Christian communities.” (Pope Leo XIV, 2026)
Calling for Nominations for Kildare Parent Council
We are looking for nominations from parents who are interested in joining our Parent Council. The Council meets once a term on a Thursday evening and plays an important role in bringing the parent perspective to school improvement. We are looking for three or four new members to the team. If you are interested, please email my PA, Matty Soley on soleym@ww.catholic.edu.au or contact the College.
Open Night
Preparations for our annual Open Night on the 10 March are underway. We are already receiving a large number of enrolments for Year 7 2027. Please encourage family and friends to attend our Open Night and submit their enrolment applications to secure their place. Enrolment interviews will be held on 17 March and 23 March.
