Message from the Principal Team

Dear Parents and Carers,

Welcome back to a new school year at Trafalgar Primary School. It has been wonderful to see students return with energy and enthusiasm for learning. The early weeks of the year are all about building routines and setting strong foundations for the months ahead.

In 2026, our focus is on protecting and strengthening learning for every student by creating classrooms that are calm, predictable, and inclusive. You may notice teachers spending time explicitly teaching routines and expectations. This is intentional. When students know exactly what to do, they can focus their energy on learning rather than navigating uncertainty.

Clear routines and consistent adult responses are especially important for students who find school more challenging. Orderly and predictable environments reduce stress, build confidence, and help all students feel safe and ready to learn.

This week, we are launching our 'Consequence Time' process. This is a calm, school-wide approach to responding to behaviour. It is not about punishment, but about helping students understand that behaviour has impact and that learning time matters. Consequences sit alongside support; when students struggle, we work closely with families and staff to ensure the right help is in place.

At its heart, this work is about belonging. Students belong when expectations are fair, consistent, and shared. When classrooms are safe and focused, learning thrives.

We look forward to sharing more about our Behaviour Curriculum in the coming newsletters and thank you for your ongoing partnership.

With good behaviour, anything is possible.

Sincerely,

Cameron Nicholls & Meaghan Bartrop
