Term 1 Week 2

Welcome to the 2026 School Year

An enormous welcome to our Kindergarten students, who celebrated their first official day of ‘big school’ yesterday, Wednesday 4th February. It was a true pleasure to greet so many families and witness the excitement of this major milestone.

We are incredibly humbled by the responsibility you have entrusted to us. We thank our parents for choosing St Nicholas to partner with you in developing "literate and numerate students for a hope-filled future."

We believe the partnership between home and school is the defining factor in a child’s educational journey. When we establish positive, professional relationships with our parents, we provide the essential foundation that enables students to reach their full potential. Relationships are built on communication, which is why we are committed to giving parents a voice in their child's education.

New in 2026: "Ready Set Grow" Meetings

To support this partnership, we are launching "Ready Set Grow" meetings. During Weeks 4, 5, and 6 of this term, we invite all parents and carers to meet with teachers. This is a dedicated time for you to share insights about your child, helping us set them up for success and ensuring they feel supported in their learning right from the start of the year. Today parents/carers will receive a notification from Compass to book interview times.

I would also like to welcome parents/carers to our upcoming events:

  • Beginning of Year Mass - Friday 6th February - 9:30am
  • School P&F AGM - Monday 9th February - 6pm in the Library
  • School Swimming Carnival - Friday 13th February
  • "Ready Set Grow" Parent Meetings - Weeks 4, 5 and 6 (Booked via Compass)

Carthage Street Upgrades for St Nicholas School

As you have no doubt noticed, the Carthage Street upgrades were completed over the Christmas holidays, greatly enhancing the front of the school. The new crossings, footpaths, fencing, lighting, and signage provide a much safer environment for students as they arrive and depart.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank Tamworth Regional Council for their communication and consultation throughout the process. Please note that the double-lined areas at the front of the school have been extended; please help keep our students safe by following the road rules.

Have a wonderful week and we look forward to welcoming our families back into the school during our upcoming events.
