Dear parents, carers and friends of EEPS,

Welcome to the 2026 school year! It was a pleasure to welcome back existing families and students this morning and to welcome our new families. I do hope that you have had a fabulous holiday break. As is fairly normal in Australian summers, we have had bushfires and flooding, and I hope that our families haven’t been impacted by these seasonal events.

We are very excited to be starting 2026! Over the holidays we have been busy with several painting projects and installing additional room dividers and break out spaces throughout the school. I would like to thank the staff who helped facilitate these improvements and for all the staff who have put in a lot of hours last week to help us get ready for the school year.

I think it is fair to say that the world is in a fairly unsettled time at the moment, conflict, ideological contest, tension and uncertainty. I said to staff yesterday that it will be our collective aim for EEPS to be a small beacon of hope, positivity, strength, connectedness for you and your children. 

I would also like to let our parents know that Eltham East now has an official Instagram account as well as Facebook. It is our hope that we can provide even further insights into the daily life of our great school.

A couple of reminders: 

Prep Information Night - Tuesday 3rd February at 6.30 pm in the Hall (please arrange for a parent from each household to be present)

Year 6 Information Night - Tuesday 3rd February at 7.00pm in the BER (please arrange for a parent from each household to be present)

Open afternoon and meet the teacher - Tuesday 10th February 2.40-4.40 pm

I will let everyone settle into the new school year and will communicate in more detail on important start-up initiatives as the term unfolds.
