Principal's News

Mrs Gabrielle Espenschied

Dear Parents,

Last week, we saw so many examples of how we deepen our students' learning experience and enable our kids to shine and flourish in our care at St Mary’s School.

The Junior Parish Sports were held at St Joseph’s last Friday. It was such a wonderful community building event. Students from years Prep, 1 and 2 across our three Parish schools (St Joseph’s, St Mary’s and St Brendan's) participated in a tabloid of physical activities. Learning and participating in activities such as these really builds our faith community and highlights the saying, 'Alone we are strong, but together we are stronger'.

This collaboration continued with our senior students participating in activities with our feeder secondary schools.

Our Year 4 students went to Padua College, Mornington to the amazing Performing Arts Centre to watch a performance and had a great time.

Our Year 5 students went to Westernport Secondary College last Wednesday and participated in STEM activities. They had a great time and put all of their wonderful STEM skills into practice.

Our senior students participated in a faith experience with our wonderful Parishioners. Thirty students participated in a rotation of activities centred around the love of Mary our mother. It was a wonderful, faith-filled afternoon and I thank Val and Helga, along with our wonderful Parish Priest, Father Shymon, for joining with us. We then celebrated our Mission Month Mass which was a beautiful celebration led by our Year 5/6 community. A special thanks to Natalie Dullard for her excellent leadership in faith.

None of these activities would be possible without amazing staff supporting our students and going above and beyond to ensure every student has an opportunity to flourish and shine across a broad range of experiences. We are absolutely focused on achieving the highest Literacy and Numeracy skills along with providing opportunities for every student to shine in their area of strength.

So Hats Off to our staff. I am so proud to lead such a wonderful, dedicated and talented team and appreciate the significant work each and every staff member does. Don’t forget to send in a little thank you note of appreciation to staff who work with your child. Being a school with a culture of thanks and appreciation really builds a positive, inclusive and wonderful learning environment for every student to flourish.

I look forward to seeing you all at our St Mary’s concert this Wednesday night at George Jenkins Theatre, where the night is set to be a wonderful night of entertainment from our students. I thank Amanda Strickland for excellent leadership in this area.

Yours in Partnership,

Gab
