Fixtures 4 November

Basketball

Round 2 of the ISA Basketball season had another mixed lot of results, with all divisions having some wins.

The Internal Gold and Blue Pius League competition had some shuffling of teams this week, and in the Gold League, Yellow were victorious and for the Blue League, both the Blue and Red teams had wins.

Our 14F and 15F teams had good wins against St Augustine’s, as did the 13E, 15E, 17E and 4ths against Redlands.

The D teams all had narrow losses to St Augustine’s, apart from the 14Ds who had a great win.

Our 14C, 15C and 17C teams recorded good wins against Redlands but unfortunately, our Bs teams games against St Andrews Cathedral School were cancelled.

Most of our As teams won their games (13A, 14A, 17A 1sts) against Redlands, with some big wins for the 13As and the 1sts. Our 1sts came away with a convincing victory, led by 21 points from Max Wilcox in a game where all players contributed on the scoreboard.

NOTE: 13F and 14F teams travelling to Burradoo

Oxley College is holding the Pin Oak Fair on their school grounds this Saturday from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm.

Please note that traffic will be busy in the area and parents and buses should allow extra travel time. Parents will be able to park on one of the ovals. Unfortunately, there will not be any parking for buses at the College this weekend.

ISA Round 2 – 1st XI v St Augustine’s College at St Andrew's College, Sydney University

1st XI 10/86 (Andrew May 20) lost to St Augustine’s College 4/87 (Darcy Aylmer 2/15).

A disappointing batting display which included run outs and poor shot selection left the 1st XI with a very small total to defend. The captain Darcy Aylmer, and Ollie Freeman looked like rescuing the situation again, but after their dismissals it was left to Andrew May to hit out sensibly. Andrew May and Darcy Aylmer took early wickets to give some hope, Lucas Gleeson bowled a probing 7 over spell to finish with 1 for 12 and Tom Lough took two slip catches. The opposition, however, reached the target well within time. The 1st XI will be looking to bounce back strongly in Round 3 against Central Coast at Central Coast next Saturday.

Mental Fitness Workshop

In the spirit of Movember, please see below a flyer pertaining to a Mental Fitness Workshop being run by the Cricket NSW Foundation.

The Mental Fitness workshop was created by Alan Mantle BAppSSC M.A Applied Psychology who has been consulting to Cricket NSW since 2008.

The workshop is titled What Does It Take to be the Best I Can Be and is designed to provide young cricketers with positive psychology strategies and mental fitness techniques to empower participants with the mindset to succeed on and off the field.

The workshop is open to St Pius X College cricketers.  Parents are also welcome to join the two-hour workshop.  This is not a workshop exclusive to St Pius X College. Members of the general cricketing community will also be in attendance.

Please don’t hesitate to reach out to Tamara Lowe from Cricket NSW (tamara.lowe@cricketnsw.com.au) if you’d like more information.

Tennis

It was disappointing that the 8:00 am games were washed out, however, the 7 of the 8 Talus Street courts were playable for the 10:00 am matches.

Our Year 12 Anderson twins, Cooper and Spencer, are on a 3-year winning doubles streak. This dynamic duo first entered the NSTA and ISA circuit in Year 9 and they haven’t lost a doubles match yet!  No doubt, our new tennis twins, Year 7’s Hu brothers will be inspired by this remarkable feat.

Thank you to Esteban Leon Curran and Ryan Chung who kindly stepped up to play in higher divisions with players out to sickness. Both boys played like champions winning both in both singles and doubles.

This week’s draw is available in Woodchatta OR you can check the draw online:

8:00 am matches

10:00 am matches

Not sure what team you are in? Check the list attached.
