Year 7 HUB
At the end of Term 3, you may have noticed the Year 7 HUB shining brighter than it usually does. In the HUB, we set ourselves the challenge of looking for Glimmers in our day. Glimmers are the micro moments that bring us a sense of joy, peace, gratitude, or happiness. There is research to suggest that seeking out these tiny moments has many positive mental health benefits and in fact encourages our brains to look for more of these glimmers. We set up a glimmer board and noted down our glimmers. As you can see from the photo, we were able to find quite a few even at the end of the term when energy levels can be lower than usual. The response from the Year 7s (and even a few Year 8 students!) was really positive and fostered a sense of how finding the good in the little things can make a big difference. Some students noted how “it was nice to read everyone’s glimmers”, “it showed the teachers what students like” and “it made students appreciate the little things”. Keep an eye out in Term 4 for the next glimmer challenge, because as the students also keep asking “when is it coming back?”
