Year 8 Technology Mandatory

To all our lovely James Busby community,

What a wonderful semester it's been working through Technology Mandatory here at our amazing school. What a fantastic two terms it's been creating so many tremendous projects from delicious recipes to flamboyant textile designs. It's been great to witness these young individuals here in Year 8 express their creative flares and produce some amazing results. Some would say that cooking was their favourite topic through our Technology Mandatory course whereas others would express that the textiles and fabric decorations techniques were theirs. Nevertheless, each student has come to class and has given it their all. I'm proud to announce that the portfolios that we have created have been of great caliber and the recipes that they have made have been outstanding. From sweet goods such as Anzac cookies, pancakes, chocolate truffles to savory dishes such as burgers, Chow Mien, stuff potatoes and more! You could say that each double period that our students attended, they never left hungry! This term, Ms Gauci’s Year 8TM  students have utilised a range of technologies including a computer aided design program called circuit design space to create fantastic heat transferred logos to their pencil cases. Other classes have produced very professional recipe folders.

What a year it has been. On behalf of the Home Economic team and I, we wish the year 8s all the best going into year 2024 and hope that these skills that they have acquired are used and not forgotten!

Yours truly,

Mr. Fodor.

Year 12 Design and Technology

Students in design and technology this year completed major works in which they produced innovative, creative and considered solutions to many social and environmental issues impacting our current global situation. Our JBHS designers used skills in computer software, 3D modelling, specialised machinery and textiles to complete their final design solutions. Some Major projects included: inclusive, gender-neutral clothing lines, specialised computer cooling systems, homeless and less fortunate community initiatives, sporting equipment modifications, educational textile awareness programs, and natural disaster protection models.
