Division Interschool Sport - Cricket
On Friday, 13th of October 2023, the cricket interschool sport team went to Division play offs. We competed in 3 matches, playing against St Louis, St Marks and Bentleigh West.
Unfortunately, we lost our first match against Bentleigh West by only 10 runs, a close match.
Player comment - Keiran S
‘It was a hard round, but we were equally matched. It was difficult because they had pretty good batters. I was nervous, because it was our first game, and I think we played our best against them.'
We started our second match against St Louis batting, but unfortunately lost by almost 150 runs.
Our last match against Bentleigh West was a success! We won by approximately 40 runs. Some highlights were Liam Chamoff hitting 76 runs in 10 balls getting the highest score of the competition and Keiran Sutherland for his amazing job opening the batting. Whilst not making it through to regionals, we had an amazing time, and enjoyed it thoroughly..

Vegetable Garden Update
By Nuoqi S and Sneha N
One look at our garden, and you’d know that the Garden Club, Mrs Kerr, and Divya are working extremely hard to nurture the growth of our plants and flowers. They have planted herbs and fruits, such as passionfruit, strawberries and snow peas. Today blueberries were planted, and our carrots are not far away from being picked.
A couple of weeks ago, 6A and 6C helped with weeding the garden and planting the new plants that we purchased from our Bunnings voucher. We hope all these plants will grow beautifully. Thank you to Mr Packham who built the frames for the snow peas and Divya who offers her expert advice. We got our first harvest of snow peas - 25 of them! Students who attended gardening club had the opportunity to taste the delicious, crunchy snow peas.
We all know many hands make light work. If any parents or grandparents would like to help in the garden, please contact the office. We would also appreciate any donations of plants or gardening supplies.
Just a reminder that the garden is not for climbing, littering, or playing on.
Hotshots Division
On the 26th of October, the Hotshots team went to Division to compete against schools that won their district competition. It was held on Bignell Road in Bentleigh. (Hotshots is a modified version of tennis, but with smaller racquets and smaller courts.)
The team consists of 9 players. Our players were: Omer Alamaru, Yohan Singh, Charlie Harris, Joshua Fenton, Zachary Platis, Idan Maylis, Declan Porteus, Sam Watson and Connor Porteus.
We were one of four schools competing on the day. We played one singles match, and one doubles against each school. Unfortunately, we lost all of our matches, but we tried our best. We came 3rd out of 4 teams. There were a lot of close, exciting matches. Congratulations to Vaulkston for winning the competition being undefeated.
A big thank you to the parents for getting us to and from Bentleigh, and an even bigger thank you to Mr Packham for coaching us. We made it a very long way, and we are extremely proud of ourselves.
Year 3 Camp
By Ryutaro and Julian
On the 21st of October all the Year 3’s went to Woorabinda camp, and were all very excited. Everyone loved the activities, such as the Zipline, which was very popular. Other activities included the giant swing, archery, the scavenger hunt and seeing the komodo dragons. Some of the students told us that the food was delicious. They had chicken schnitzel, bacon, eggs, rice, and sausages. Everyone seemed to like the cabins they were in and also enjoyed lighting their own fires and roasting marshmallows for smores.
Thank you to all the Year 3 teachers who went: Ms Savva, Mr Crebbin, Mrs Apostolopoulos, Ms Crawford, Ms Cecil and Ms Lazaro .
Thank you to Zonnique, Lacey, Raphael, Spencer and Emma for talking to us about their camping experience.

I am a little bit nervous, but I am excited for all the new subjects I will be doing.

YEAR 6 HIP HOP
By Sneha N
Exciting times for Year 6! We are currently practising our Graduation dance. We participate in Hip Hop classes every Tuesday. After a few sessions of practice, we are making pleasing progress.
Leanne, our choreographer, is helping us with our new dance. As a warmup, she has us complete fun dance moves at the start of the lesson.
At Graduation, we will perform our dance in front of the school and parents. The Grade 6’s are very excited for this event.
Zooper doopers
On hot days the Year 6 students will be selling Zooper Doopers for only $1 each.
Keep an eye on Sentral to see when we are selling them!
Things to do on the holidays
The holidays will be here before we know it. Let’s get thinking about some great things you can do during the long school holidays. It’s never too early to get organised!
- The National Gallery of Victoria is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the city of Melbourne. The NGV is very close to Flinders Street Station and is a very large museum. You can experience many different art pieces and many globally renowned artists’ work. The entry cost is free most of the time. Occasionally some exhibitions cost a small fee.
- Royal Botanical Gardens are some of the most beautiful exhibitions of greenery in the world. In my opinion the Royal Gardens are the most beautiful of them all. It is definitely worth visiting the cafe and taking a walk around the trails. There are services available to get a gondola ride around the parks. The herbage is especially beautiful at dawn or sunset when the sun is out.
- The BBC Earth Experience. This October, the immersive and powerful BBC Earth Experience is coming to The Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre. Within one hour you will embark upon a magical and impactful journey. Using footage from the original BBC Natural History Television series Seven Worlds, One Planet, this 360-degree- -audio-visual journey will take you around the seven continents of the world, with narration from the famously iconic Sir David Attenborough.
