Catholic Identity

If there is one word that we should never tire of repeating, it is this: dialogue. We are called to promote a culture of dialogue by every possible means and thus to rebuild the fabric of society.’

St. Mel's Parish Sacramental Program ~

Last Sunday our Candidates and their parents made their commitment to journey through the Steps in Faith program in preparation for Reconciliation this November. We met on Thursday for the first cluster session at St Anne’s College. The group, although smaller than past years, were full of enthusiasm and excitement as they began to connect with one another and share in this time together. Please keep the Candidates and their families in your prayers and welcome them on Sunday’s to our Masses, where each family will be involved in bringing forward the offertory.

We look forward to our second cluster session together on November 23rd at St. Mel's Hall.

Father Peter's Thanksgiving Mass & Farewell

Last week we had the opportunity for reflection, appreciation, and thanks, for the dedication, service and spiritual guidance that Fr. Peter has provided to our school & parish community over these past years. We are so grateful for the wisdom, guidance, and support he has shared with us. We wish him all the best and will keep him in our prayers as he begins his new journey in the Rutherglen Parish.

Thank you to all those who assisted with the planning of our School Mass & Parish Picnic celebration. They were both fitting celebrations for Fr Peter that our community could share in together and give thanks.

Welcome Fr Rene & Fr Ruel ~

We welcome Fr Rene to our Parish & School Community this week anf Fr Ruel the following. We know they will be warmly welcomed into our community. We look forward to working with both Fr Rene & Fr Ruel as we continue close connections with our Parish.

Liturgical Calendar ~November

In our liturgical calendar, we look to the month of November. In the Catholic tradition, November is traditionally a month of remembrance of those who have died. The month begins with the Solemnity of All Saints on the 1st of November and the Commemoration of the All the Faithful Departed (All Souls’ Day), on 2 November.

NOVEMBER MASSES FOR REMEMBERING OUR LOVED ONES:

All Souls Day at St. Mel's Church ~ NOVEMBER Is a month to remember our loved ones, especially those who have died from our Parish over this past year. This year for all the Sunday Masses in November, and in the parish bulletin each week, we will have the names displayed of those who you wish to remember.

Envelopes (yellow) are available for you to write the names of those you would like remembered during NOVEMBER MASSES. Please place these in the collection plates, or return to the office through the slot next to the door. Names submitted will be included on the Church Screens every Sunday during November. It is intended the screens will move slowly so names can be read.

ALL SAINTS DAY MASSES - (Two will be offered) Wednesday, November 1st at 9:15am and 5:30pm.

ALL SOULS DAY MASS - (one Mass only) Thursday, November 2nd at 9:15am.

NEW St. Mel's Giving Tree ~

It is a beautiful tradition at St. Mel's that each year we provide Christmas gifts for people in in need in our community, through the help and support of the St. Vincent de Paul Society.

If you are able to and wish to donate, please provide a small gift that was been wrapped and labelled for whom the gift would be suitable. For example 10 year old boy, Girl - 5 years. Gifts can be sent to school with students and they can place them under our Giving Tree in our school foyer.

On the last Wednesday of school the gifts will be given to St. Vinnie's for distribution before Christmas. What a wonderful way to share in the spirit of joy and hope this Christmas Season. Thank you for your support.
