Year 1 Bulletin

TERM HIGHLIGHTS

As we come to the end of another wonderful term in Grade 1, we are delighted to share some highlights of our learning journey. The children have grown in confidence as readers and writers, developing their strategies to decode unknown words, retell events in order and add details to their writing using sensory language.

In Maths, we explored place value, additive strategies, multiplicative thinking and some hands-on measurement activities, estimating and comparing weight using hefting and balance scales.

Our Big idea encouraged the children to think deeply about living things and how they grow and change. They enjoyed learning about the life cycles of plants and animals whilst building their scientific vocabulary. The children developed an understanding that all living things depend on the sun, water, and air, and each other, for survival.

Through Investigations, the children have further developed their teamwork and collaboration skills, their creativity and imagination as they explored areas provided. We also celebrated growth in social skills, with the children showing kindness, resilience, and responsibility in their friendships and classroom roles. It has been a joy to see their enthusiasm and achievements, and we look forward to another exciting term of learning ahead.
