Regional Girls Soccer Tournament

On Thursday, 14th August, our Girls’ Soccer team proudly represented our Division at the Northern Regional Championships. Although the team didn’t record a win on the day, it was a fantastic achievement to make it to this level of competition.

The girls showed tremendous teamwork, resilience and determination, playing with great spirit against very strong opposition. To qualify for the regional stage is a testament to their hard work, skill development, and ability to perform under pressure.

We are very proud of their efforts and the way they represented St Martin of Tours with pride and sportsmanship. Congratulations to all the players involved!

Heidelberg District Senior (Year 5/6) Basketball Round Robin

Our two Senior Basketball teams competed in the Annual Heidelberg District Basketball Round Robin on Monday 11th August at the Diamond Valley Sports Stadium. I invited two of our Year 6 students to share their experience of the day.

On Monday the 11th of August, myself and six other girls from year five and six participated in Hooptime. This was held at Diamond Valley Basketball Stadium. We competed against Rosanna Golf Links, Heidelberg, Banyule and Viewbank. Our team ended up making it to the grand final which was an amazing achievement. We had a great win! Defeating Banyule by a large margin, we felt very proud of ourselves and had a good time. It was fantastic to play alongside such a strong and skilled group of girls. What helped even more was having the boys cheer us on, encouraging us to push our limits. It was also nice to see some friends who I've played with over the years. We look forward to representing our school in the next round at Regionals!            Kayleigh

On Monday 11th of August. myself and 7 other year 6 boys competed at Hooptime at Diamond Valley Stadium. It was a great experience and a really good level of basketball. Over the day we played against Viewbank, Heidelberg, Rosanna Primary, Rosanna Golf Links and last but not least Banyule. We played 5 games and won all of them except our game against Golf Links which came down to the wire and ended up in a draw. These results had us in the finals with a rematch against Rossana Golf Links. Both the boys and the girls were now in the Grand Final. They were against Banyule and ended up getting the win. Coming into the game we knew it would be a tough game. It was a close game but with a couple minutes to go we were up 17 to 20 but then a Golf Links player hit a big three to tie it up. We had the ball stolen from us and they scored but we didn't give up. We managed to get the ball back with a steal of our own but we didn't end up scoring. The final scores were 22 to 20. Even though we lost we can still make it to the next round on a wild card.  Liam

Thank you to our parents that were able to attend on the day and support us with the scoring of every game. Special thanks also to Kate Sandford for the brilliant job that she did coaching and educating the girls on the day. We congratulate both teams on their fantastic achievements and we now wish the girls every success at the Division stage of the School Sports Victoria state championships & the Basketball Victoria ‘Hooptime’ Regional championships.

Track and Field Championships - Congratulations

Recently, Roderick A (Year 6) competed at the LAVic Winter Track and Field State Championships in Geelong. He performed exceptionally well in the U12 Boys Combined Event, finishing 5th overall in the state. This is an outstanding achievement, considering the high level of competition.

Roderick should be incredibly proud of his effort, commitment and sportsmanship.

We wish him all the best in this area, which he obviously loves and enjoys! Who knows where we may see him in the future!
