Wear it Purple Day

Today we celebrated Wear It Purple Day to show our support of the LGBTQIA+ community. In our school, we want every young person to feel safe, seen and celebrated! Students and staff were invited to wear a splash of purple to show their support.

STEM Festival 

STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics, and it's about helping students build skills that prepare them for the future. Through STEM learning, children explore how the world works, solve problems in creative ways, and develop important abilities such as critical thinking and collaboration. From simple hands-on experiments to designing and testing solutions, STEM encourages curiosity and shows students how these subjects connect to everyday life and real-world challenges. 

Our RGLPS STEM Festival is quickly approaching. During Week 8 (Monday 8th - Friday 12th September) we will celebrate with a series of engaging challenges. Each day, we will focus on an individual element of STEM and students will participate in activities during school time as we lead up to a STEM challenge day at the end of the week. 

Does your family have what it takes to conquer the Amazing Race?

We are excited to invite all RGLPS families along to the Opening Ceremony and Amazing Race. This will be held on Monday 8th September from 6-7pm. We will begin in the school hall where our STEM captains will do a brief introduction before sending students and family members off to complete many fun challenges around the school. 

Throughout the term, students have been learning about coding and robotics in STEM. Students will also be able to show off some of their learning and understanding using the robots/computers on the night. 

STEM Festival Donations 

During our STEM Festival week we will be running many exciting activities. For one of our planned tasks, we require plastic 'pop top' bottle tops. These are often found on Pump bottles, Pop Top bottles, Powerade drinks, etc. 

We also require a large number of plastic bottles and jars. These may include Pump bottles, Powerade bottles, soft drink bottles, or any other similar plastic bottles - preferably no larger than 750ml and washed. Jars would also be suitable and kindly taken off your hands. 

If you come across any of these over the coming weeks, we'd love to reuse them. Please wash the items and hand them into the Grade 6 team who will distribute these to all the levels that require them.

Joke of the Week Submissions

A HUGE thank you to Felix from Prep C for submitting your hilarious joke last week. When I've been out on yard duty at the end of the day, I've seen lots of people stop and wait to see the joke or share it with their parents. 

I am always on the look out for new jokes! If would like to see your joke (and name!) on the board, please send it through, or find me in the yard!
