Our Tournament of Minds team performed last Saturday, at La Trobe University. The competition is very challenging, focusing on collaborative problem-solving and critical thinking. Primary and secondary students from Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, parts of Asia, Africa and the Middle East compete.
Our team chose the ‘Arts challenge’, involving research into the musical, Cats, by Andrew Lloyd Webber, before developing a creative interpretation in response to the challenge criteria. The team used dance, songs, props and narration to deliver their response to the challenge. A second, spontaneous challenge also tested the team’s creativity and ability to cooperate under pressure, presenting a solution to a problem in front of a judging panel.
