Principal's Report
What a week it’s been! The wild weather certainly caused a few challenges, with strong winds sending us indoors for playtime, but thankfully, no one blew away! Our students made the most of the indoor play, engaging in calm, passive activities. Today, we celebrated Wear it Purple Day, and it was wonderful to see so many students proudly wearing purple in support of pride and acceptance for young people in the rainbow community. It was a meaningful way to continue fostering inclusivity and respect for all. A huge thank you to everyone for their participation and enthusiasm!
R U OK? Day - September 11th: Checking In and Supporting Each Other
On September 11th, we will be observing R U OK? Day, a vital reminder to check in on those around us and ensure they’re doing okay. This day encourages conversations around mental health, and it’s an opportunity for everyone, students and staff alike, to reflect on the importance of asking open-ended questions and offering a listening ear.
Throughout the week, we’ll be integrating R U OK? Day into our Wellbeing and Social Competencies Programs, focusing on key strategies for being a good friend and offering support. Students will engage in activities designed to help them recognise when their peers may be struggling and develop the confidence to ask those crucial open-ended questions: “Are you okay?” and “How can I support you?”
We will be utilising a variety of resources to teach students how to approach these conversations with empathy and understanding. These resources will help students learn how to identify emotional cues, create a safe space for their friends to talk, and practice active listening. By equipping students with these skills, we’re fostering a compassionate and supportive school community.
By the end of the week, we hope every student will feel empowered not only to look out for their friends but to also reach out when they need support themselves. Let’s all do our part to make sure no one ever feels alone. Remember, checking in with someone can make all the difference.

WE WANT OUR PARENTS / CAREGIVERS / GUARDIANS TO TELL US WHAT THEY THINK!
Our school is conducting the annual Parent / Caregiver / Guardian Opinion Survey offered by the Department of Education and is seeking your feedback. The survey is designed to assist schools in gaining an understanding of families’ perceptions of school climate, student behavior, and student engagement. The survey is optional, but we encourage and appreciate your participation.
Our school will use the survey results to assist in identifying areas for improvement and professional development needs in the school, to target school planning and improvement strategies.
The Parent / Caregiver / Guardian Opinion Survey opened on Monday 18 August to Friday 19 September 2025.
All families are invited to participate in the survey.
The survey will be conducted online, only takes 20 minutes to complete, and can be accessed at any convenient time on desktop computers, laptops, tablets or smartphones.
The online survey will be available in English and 10 other languages including Arabic, Greek, Hakha Chin, Hindi, Japanese, Punjabi, Simplified Chinese, Somali, Turkish, and Vietnamese. Resources are also available in additional languages to assist parents / caregivers / guardians who speak a language other than English at home. Please reach out to your child’s teacher, or the school directly for survey guides in your language.Last year we used the survey results to reengage families through the GLCG.Please speak to your child’s teacher if you would like more information.
