Principal's Report

 Dear Families,

How quickly the term is slipping away — we are already at the end of Week 4, and it is only a 9-week term!

BOOK WEEK

Next week is Book Week, and we have some exciting activities planned! On Monday at 9:00am, we will hold our Book Week Parade, with children invited to come dressed as their favourite book character. Then, on Tuesday, we are thrilled to join an online session with Andy Griffiths, the author of the much-loved Treehouse series.

PARENTS & FRIENDS

On Wednesday after school, we held our first meeting for the term to organise activities for the remainder of the year. The next upcoming event is the Father’s Day Stall. We are asking for donations from families for the stall — these can be left at the office or sent along with your child.

MUSIC

We are pleased to announce that Catherine Whitford will be taking music classes on a fortnightly basis for the remainder of the term. Students enjoyed their first session today, using the Boom whackers.

SHOW & TELL

The Grade 1/2s were lucky enough to spend the day with some very cute chicks yesterday. They read a non-fiction book about chicks as well as writing a story about them. Thank you Kaitlyn and Ciara.

ATHLETICS TRAINING

Training has continued this week, with Jacqui focusing on discus and shot put. It has been great to have someone with Jacqui’s expertise sharing her knowledge with the children.

PARENT TEACHER INTERVIEWS

Most of the interviews have been held over the past two weeks. In our debrief yesterday, staff greatly valued the opportunity to meet with families and for the children to share their learning.

CAMP

Grade 3 and 4 students head off to Camp Toolangi next Wednesday. We appreciate staff volunteering to attend. It is a fantastic camp, and we are sure the students will thoroughly enjoy the outdoor activities.

PARENT/ CAREGIVER/GUARDIAN OPINION SURVEY

Our school is conducting the annual Parent / Caregiver / Guardian Opinion Survey. The survey, offered by the Department of Education, is designed to assist schools in gaining an understanding of families’ perceptions of school climate, student behavior, and student engagement.

Families who have been randomly selected will receive an invitation to complete the survey. Your opinions are important to us and will contribute to identifying areas for improvement and professional development needs in the school, to target school planning and improvement strategies. The department will use the results from the survey for research purposes and to improve outcomes for students.

CYBER SAFETY - VICTORIA POLICE

On August 26th we have arranged for Constable Brook Alexander to visit our school to present a Cyber Safety Session to the students. This is a refresh for the students and will be targeted for students in Grades 2 to 6. We are hoping to secure a parent cyber session with enough interest. Please complete the survey link below for anyone interested.
