RUOK? Day – Thursday 11th September

This Thursday we will be recognising RUOK? Day, a day to raise awareness about the importance of checking in with others and supporting mental health and wellbeing. Our SRC are running a special fundraiser where students are encouraged to wear a touch of yellow and bring along a gold coin donation. All funds raised will go towards supporting mental health initiatives.

Throughout the day, classes will also be taking part in activities that promote kindness, connection and looking out for one another. It’s a wonderful opportunity for our school community to come together and remind each other of the importance of asking, “Are you OK?”

Upcoming Workshops – Year 4 – 6 Students

Dolly’s Dream – Wednesday 10th December. Students in Year 4-6 will complete the Dolly’s dream Bullying workshop. This bullying workshop creates a safe environment for students to discuss bullying openly. Participants will learn to identify different forms of bullying, understand the serious and real effects it has on individuals and the broader school community, and explore practical strategies to foster a positive school culture

It’s okay not to be okay – Monday 27th October. Students in Year 6 will participate in the Backpack for Life workshop. The aim of this workshop is to build mental health literacy, resilience and equip students with a tool kit to deal with tough times.

Real Schools – Our staff have been continuing their Real Schools Behaviour PhD training this term. The most recent session focused on Behavioural Motivators including attention, revenge, power and rescue, and how these can influence the way students engage and respond at school.

Real Schools also provide fantastic resources for parents. This week we’ve included an article titled “The Brain and Behaviour”, which offers helpful insights into how children’s brains work and why they may act the way they do.

Lining Up Expectations – This term we are focussing on Lining Up Expectations. The purpose behind the quiet, orderly line up is students showing us they are ready to learn and ensure they are entering in a calm and orderly way. These expectations will be across the entire school, including specialist classes. Please see below the expectations for lining up before school and after each break.
