School Captains Report

Prep Wizard Day

On August 13th, the Preps had a wonderful, spectacular and truly magical Wizard Day. They created lovely wizard hats and celebrated this special day with fun, enchanting and exciting activities. The Preps also made slime and had a fabulous time making wands and casting spells on this day. The Preps dressed up in creative wizard themed costumes and filled the school with magic spells. All of the Preps had so much fun being wizards and using their imagination, it was a fantastic day for everyone involved.

Bullying No Way Week

Bullying No Way Week is Australia's key bullying prevention initiative for schools. It provides an opportunity for schools to create a shared understanding about bullying behaviours and share their bullying prevention policies and strategies.

The national week of action unites government, Catholic and independent schools and their communities across the country. Together, we can foster practical approaches to prevent bullying in Australian schools.

2025 Theme

The theme for 2025 is 'Be bold. Be kind. Speak up.'

It takes courage to spark change.

Bullying is everyone's responsibility. It takes a community to be brave and address bullying behaviours, within and beyond the school gate.

Students can be bold, kind and take a stand to support others being bullied. While parents and teachers are there to support children and young people learn how to behave in a positive way.

In our community and in our school, we want a place where everyone can belong, a place that celebrates everyone, and where bullying is never accepted.

This Bullying No Way Week, students, schools, families and communities were asked to be bold and say something, be kind and support someone, and be proud to take a stand against bullying.

Kids Helpline Lesson

On Monday 11th of August, all of the classes from Prep to Year 5/6 had an educational incursion from ‘Kids Helpline’. The whole school watched a live video with other schools around Australia. They educated the school about what bullying is and how to put a stop to it. It was important and showcased how recognizing and standing up to bullying is crucial for helping others and ourselves.

SEL Lessons

All of the classes participated in different SEL lessons focusing on Anti Bullying.

Find out below what each year level did.

Preps

The preps watched 2 videos about stories: “The Recess Queen” and “Don’t be a Bully, Billy” talking all about how bullying affects others and why it’s bad. They did an activity by cutting out a paper heart and playing a game where if someone says something mean (in the game) they scrunched up the heart and if someone says something kind, they open the heart back again. All the preps found the activity fun and learned an important lesson about kindness and how words make a difference.

Year 1/2

The 1/2s celebrated Anti-Bullying week by reading a book called ‘Be You’ by Peter H Reynolds. The book is all about how to embrace being yourself.

They created sentences such as:

 ‘Be kind to your friends’,

‘Be ready to face new challenges’,

‘Reach out for help in an emergency’.

Other sentences also focused on the topics of curiosity, kindness, patience, bravery, understanding and lots more! The 1/2s are also going to present their sentences in their upcoming assembly.

Year 3/4

The 3/4s made a post on ‘SeeSaw’ about what antibullying is and what they can do to stop bullying. The 3/4's created an Anti-Bullying poster. They made slogans and positive messages. They also typed ways they could spread happiness all around. Their posters and slogans showed how important it is to be kind, stand up to bullying and support each other every day.

Year 5/6

The 5/6s made a poster of what an upstander and a bystander are and what they do. A key difference between the two is that an upstander stands up for people who can’t and a bystander just watches the problem happen, even if they are not directly involved. They also made a checklist for 8 acts of kindness they can do in their lives for other people such as: share your stationery with classmates, smile to classmates and say good morning and clean up your mess.
