Secondary School

It has been a lovely week in the Secondary School, with students settling into the rhythm of their studies. Walking through the corridors and seeing students engaging with one another and their teachers is always a highlight.

On Monday, we were treated to an outstanding performance by our Senior Strings at assembly. Their level of musicianship, guided by our dedicated music staff, is truly impressive. Parents are always welcome to attend assemblies and share in the culture and day-to-day life of the school.

This week also featured reflections from our School Captains on the theme of leadership. As we begin the leadership nomination process for our Year Eleven students, it was inspiring to hear from Colin Ferreira (Baudin) and Amy Medway (Wilson) about their experiences. A copy of their speeches can be found here.

Next week, all Secondary School students will have the opportunity to show their support for our aspiring Year Eleven leaders.

Continuing the theme of leadership, our Year Eleven Certificate IV Business students have been demonstrating initiative and service by organising GSG’s contribution to the Albany Big Sleepout, taking place on Friday 29 August. This week, they hosted movie nights as fundraisers, with a packed hall of Primary students enjoying Ratatouille on Tuesday and a screening of Happy Gilmore 2 for Secondary students on Thursday. All funds raised will support the Sleepout.

The students are also planning a dunk tank for the upcoming Kingfisher Fair and Open Day and are playing a key role in coordinating the Sleepout event. It is wonderful to see leadership in action through service to the community.
