Principal's Message

To Strive, To Seek, To Care with HEART

Dear Family & Friends,

This week is a significant one in the life of our College as we both thank and farewell our outgoing Year 12 leaders, and officially induct and welcome the new student leaders who will carry the torch into the future.

Our 2025 leaders have been exceptional - serving with dedication, energy and integrity. What has impressed me most is not only the way they fulfilled their formal roles, but the way they led by example every single day - whether in the classroom, on the sporting field, on stage, or in the wider community. I hope the lessons of leadership they have learned here will remain with them as they step into the next chapter of their lives.

Our Democracy pillar was clearly evident last week through the College Captain speeches and the voting process. Congratulations to our Junior Round Square students, ably led by the College Captains with support from Roxanne Egan. The maturity with which students engaged in the voting process was inspiring and provided an authentic opportunity for them to experience what it means to participate as active citizens in a democratic community.

Thank you to all Year 10 and 11 parents and students who attended the Subject Information Night and Subject Advice Afternoon. These conversations are so important in helping students make informed choices about their senior subjects. With so many options available in Years 11 and 12, it’s vital that students explore their areas of interest in order to remain fully engaged in their learning.

We were blessed with perfect weather for last Friday’s Athletics Carnival. From the track to the surrounding fields, the day was full of energy and enthusiasm. A huge thank you to Riley Simpson, Jake Akmens and the PE staff for their outstanding organisation. I’m equally grateful to all the staff who spent the day running events, recording results, and encouraging students - it truly was a team effort.

This week, both staff and students have participated in a Restorative Practices workshop. I encourage you to ask your young person what they discovered in this training - it provides valuable skills for building stronger relationships and resolving conflict in positive ways.

Our Year 8s were also fortunate to take part in a Questacon Workshop, organised by our Head of Science, Linda Tsai. This was a wonderful opportunity to bring science alive in an interactive and inspiring way.

Today, the Round Square Cup is adding colour, spirit and plenty of friendly rivalry to the College. With student teams competing fiercely - and even a staff team in the mix - it promises to be an event full of energy and fun.

And finally—the moment we’ve all been waiting for! Next week, our school musical Bring It On takes the stage. With three evening performances and a special matinee for our local primary schools, this promises to be a spectacular celebration of talent, teamwork and creativity. Don’t miss out!

Warm regards,

Leslie Tilbrook
