A Message from Amanda Williams
The roof nearly lifted off the gym this week as Australian Olympian Peter Bol visited our senior primary and secondary students! The excitement and enthusiasm was incredible, and it was clear that Peter thoroughly enjoyed meeting our students!
It is hard to believe that we have already reached the end of our first term at Truganina College. Congratulations to our students, staff and families for settling so quickly into the school year and accomplishing so much over the past 10 weeks.
The final weeks of Term One have been particularly full, with many exciting activities across the College and, as always, outstanding learning taking place in our classrooms.
Last week, we held our first Indian Parent Forum. A huge thank you to Wellbeing staff member David Baskaran for organising this wonderful event, which strongly aligns with our goal of building meaningful connections with our community.
The afternoon was a fantastic success, with students sharing the many opportunities available at the College, including the Victorian High Ability Program, the School for Student Leadership, sporting pathways and wellbeing programs. One student also spoke about the positive impact a teacher had on his learning, highlighting the powerful relationships that underpin our College.
David presented on the challenges our Indian heritage students may experience as they navigate the connection between their parents’ educational experiences and their own Australian schooling journey. Our School Council President, Vinay Singla, delivered an inspiring speech about the importance of family engagement with our College and the strong sense of belonging this creates.
Thank you to all families who attended. I look forward to our next cultural forum which will be for our Pacifica families in Term 3

One of the most special aspects of our College is the way we celebrate diversity and treat one another with respect.
This term, we are especially excited to celebrate Cultural Day, organised by our students in the Anti-Racism Working Party. This student led event provides an opportunity for us all to come together and acknowledge the rich diversity that strengthens and enriches our school community.
All students and staff are invited to wear their cultural dress or orange this coming Thursday 2nd April- last day of term. There will be lessons exploring culture and dancing at recess on our outdoor stage coordinated by our community liaison officers.

Welcome to our 2026 School Council. We are excited to have new parent representatives joining us, who will play an important role in supporting the College as we work towards our strategic goals. Congratulations to Mr Vinay Singla on his successful nomination as School Council President. This will be Vinay’s second year as School Council President at our College.

At our first meeting, we reflected on our 2025 Annual Report, celebrating the achievements of our students and staff, and considering how this informs the goals within our 2026 Annual Implementation Plan. The one pager, “All Aboard” is a snapshot of what our College is working towards in 2026 and was designed by some of our staff.
Last week, we held our Excellence Assembly, where students from Foundation to Year 9 were recognised for both excellence and strong growth in learning.
This year, we have expanded our recognition beyond Literacy and Numeracy to celebrate achievement across all learning areas, including STEM, Science, Visual Arts, Performing Arts, Health & Physical Education, and Spanish. It was also wonderful to include awards for students in our Learning Growth Program and Pasifika Cultural Program.
Thank you to the many families who attended to celebrate alongside our students.
A big congratulations to all of our students on a successful Term 1 and every child at Truganina College has something to celebrate. I hope that families can discuss with their child/children something that they are proud of that they achieved this term.
Thank you to all our families for your ongoing support of both our staff and your children’s learning.
I wish everyone a safe and well-deserved term break, and I look forward to welcoming students back for Term 2 on Monday 20th April.
