Welcome Back Barbecue 2024

What an amazing turn out on Wednesday night at our annual Welcome Back Barbecue! Over 700 meals were served by the P&F and our amazing volunteers. A crowd favourite, Old MacDonald's Farm, was back for a second year to entertain the kids both big and small. Our talented students, led by Miss Burbage, did a great job on the Library Resource Centre stage!

Families were kept cool while raising money for Lent thanks to the Prefects selling soft drinks and the lovely Cafe Manager Skye selling delicious ice-creams. Parents did not miss out thanks to our wonderful Hospitality staff and students who were busy in the Chalk Cafe serving tea, coffee and slices. A big thank you to OMG Donuts for churning out over 400 yummy donuts at a special school price. Adrian and his family are new to our school and judging by the feedback I got on the night they will become a welcome feature at future events.

A big shout out to our amazing Grounds and Admin team who help us set up and clear away when all the families have gone home. Lastly a big thank you to all the children of committee members (including my daughter Lilly) who last night and over the years have happily come along to every and any event we hold and help out in whatever manner they can. It’s so special to share in these events with the ones you love.

So what’s next?

Next Wednesday we have our P&F AGM in the Library Resource Centre from 6:30pm, I would love you all to come along if you can.

Not only to get to meet with your committee, hear what they have done over the past 12 months and pass on any suggestions or ideas you may have for 2024 and beyond, but you also get a chance to hear from our Principal Anne Ford, Head of Primary Tracey Rogers and Business Manager Derek Heatherly. This is a great opportunity to become better informed about what’s happening in your school and community.

All positions on the committee become vacant each year, we will take nominations for President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary and General Committee.

Next week marks the end of my journey at JWACS as I step down as President of the P&F. It has been my absolute pleasure working alongside Anne Ford and the School as well as a great number of committee members and volunteers over the years. It will be strange not being a part of this amazing community, but I know that the returning committee members are brilliant and the future of the P&F is in great hands.

Please if you think you have the time, come along, have a listen and maybe put your hand up to join the P&F. It’s a great opportunity to make a difference and make some great friends.

Nomination forms will be available on the night.

We hope to see you there!
