During the holy season of Lent, we prepare for the coming of Christ at Easter. This is a special time for reflection, repentance, forgiveness and new beginnings. John Wollaston will be holding three special events this Term as we journey through Lent and celebrate Easter.
EASTER SERVICE - Wednesday 27 March
On Wednesday 27 March, Years 2-12 will attend the John Wollaston Easter Service held in the BDISC. In this annual, Eucharist Service we remember the sacrifice and celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Holy Communion in the form of a bread wafer will be offered during the service. Students may choose to receive Communion or a blessing, or they may choose not to participate in this part of the service. In the coming weeks I will be explaining the ritual of Holy Communion during our regular Chapel services. Please take this opportunity to discuss your wishes with your child. All students are welcome to receive Communion but not all will choose to do so. Students are asked to make a gold coin offering which will go towards Anglicare.
PURPLE DAY - Friday 22 March
Our Lent event this year will be Purple Day on Friday 22 March. All staff and students from Kindy to Year 12 are asked to bring a gold coin donation and wear a favourite purple accessory. The proceeds will go towards the purchase of two purple benches to raise awareness of Family and Domestic Violence, and to Anglicare.
Students must wear enclosed shoes and sports uniform with their purple accessories.
Family Service
A Holy Communion service will be held in the Chapel at 8:00am on Friday 22 March to mark the start of our Lent Event. This is a wonderful opportunity to attend our newly renovated chapel with your children. All parents, family, staff and students are invited to attend. Please RSVP to jcoverdale@jwacs.wa.edu.au
If you have any questions regarding these events, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
Blessings and Peace,
Chaplain Justine
