PHYSICAL EDUCATION

LysterPHYSED- What's happening in the Gym??

PREP-2

Students are continuing to build on movement concepts while also challenging their body strength, core stability and hand-eye coordination skills. Over the next few weeks, we will be focussing on ball control and working collaboratively in teams.

GRADE 3-6

Athletics training is now complete so grade 3-6 students are beginning to work on spatial awareness and strategic concepts. It will be a challenging unit but will be revisited and built upon over the year.

HOUSE ATHLETICS (GRADE 3-6)

Our first House event is next week. House Athletics is always a highlight on the calendar and the students are excited and ready to go for a big event.  Thank you to all the parents who have kindly volunteered their time to support the students on the day as event marshals. Our parent helpers will be engaged in both leading field events and supporting students as they move around the events for the day.  We have been extremely fortunate that Rowville Secondary College will be supporting our day with 20 senior Sport and Recreation students to work alongside our parents and teachers. Huge thank you to the RSC staff and students.

The event will also double as a qualification for our athletics team. Results will be collated and the team announced in a few weeks so we can begin training as we look towards a District Championship 3-peat.

Notes for Parents:

  1. Events will begin from 10 am and be completed by 2:20 pm.
  2. Due to the distance we are travelling to Ringwood Athletics Track all students who are participating must be at school by 8:45 am for roll call and ready to board the bus at 9 am.
  3. Students are encouraged to dress up in house colours.
  4. Sunscreen is a must. It's recommended students arrive at school with sunscreen already applied. When not competing students will have the opportunity to re-apply sunscreen please ensure it's packed.
  5. NO HAT NO PLAY. We are outside all day and school hats are compulsory.  Students will not need to run in a hat but at all other times, the school hat must be worn.
  6. Lots of water. It's forecast to be a hot day so a nice cold bottle of water is recommended.
  7. Healthy lunch and snacks to keep energy levels up.
