Senior School

Budding Entrepreneurs

Elon Musk, Richard Branson, Steve Jobs, Oprah Winfrey... these are names we all know as very successful business men and women. Well, did you know, we have some budding entrepreneurs amongst us here at ACPS? The Senior School students have been busy learning about persuasive writing and to wrap up the unit, we thought it would be fun to create an episode of Shark Tank. After watching a real-life pitch from a recent episode, students had to discuss the pros and cons of the pitch, as well as decide whether or not they would invest in the product. From here, they worked in small groups to create their own product/business idea and then pitched this to their teachers and classmates, AKA ‘The Sharks’.

‘The Night Pocket’- a drone already sought after by the US army to spy on the enemy. It has night vision, can zoom in from 10,000ft away, is heat seeking, has a silent mode and can follow your mobile device. Selling for $300,000 per drone but manufactured for $100,000, these boys are making a 200% profit.

An unpoppable, non-deflating basketball, retailing for only $18.99- what an invention at a bargain price!! Sick of your dog sinking their teeth into your balls and causing them to pop? Then this is the product for you!

The Tasmanian Devils Footy Club, with 1,000,000 members already at only $50 per membership…would you invest your money in this new club?

Yellow Brick Road- a chocolate bar that’ll brighten up your day, so take a walk, adventures await. With a creamy filling that melts in your mouth and a caramel drizzle to finish off, how can you resist?

AstroTech- a new competitor on the market for global sensation Apple, this mobile phone retails at only $1200. With marketing that is second to none, it was a no-brainer to invest in this product!

A poor food-truck owner, who only needed a dollar to feed her pet hedgehog, Buttons, made a very funny pitch, but failed to get investment due to her $0 earnings thus far.
