THRIVING at ACPS

I am excited to introduce to you our new THRIVE program which centres around our commitment to fostering the holistic development of our students here at ACPS. THRIVE encompasses a social and emotional learning curriculum which aligns with our School Wide Positive Behavior framework and our focus on Respectful Relationships. At its core, THRIVE is about proactive well-being, equipping our students with the tools they need to flourish academically, socially, and emotionally. Essentially the skills they need to THRIVE!

We launched THRIVE at our THRIVE Afternoon last Thursday. During the afternoon students collaborated to review and explore our school values, develop House culture and compose House chants. The afternoon culminated in a House Vs House, Minute 2 Win It competition.

Moving forward, THRIVE will be the foundation of student engagement at ACPS. You'll hear the word "THRIVE" more frequently as the year progresses, as we integrate it into various aspects of school life. From classroom activities to incursions, Health and Wellbeing days, camps, excursions, parent sessions and special house events and celebrations.

We look forward to embarking on this THRIVE journey together with you and our students, as we continue to support their holistic growth and wellbeing. Please mark down Thursday March 21st in your calendars to join us for our next THRIVE event. The ACPS Colour Run will commence at 2:30pm and will be the culminating event of our Harmony Day celebrations.

Run Warrandyte

Last Sunday our ACPS Team of students and parents took to the Warrandyte streets together in Run Warrandyte. The conditions were perfect for running and I loved seeing a sea of ACPS navy blue and white at the start line and in the festival villiage.

Whether you beat your personal best time from last year, conquered a new distance, or even completed your first fun run. Your commitment to our running club session in preparation and your efforts on the day and the support you showed one another made me incredibly proud.

A special shoutout to the parents who joined us, whether running alongside our students, cheering from the sidelines, or volunteering at checkpoints.

Given the success and positive energy surrounding this event, I can see Run Warrandyte continuing to be an annual feature of the ACPS calendar!

Harmony Day Colour Run and Fundraiser

We will be holding a Harmony Day Colour Run on Thursday 21st March at 2:30 - 3:30pm on the school oval. This will be the culminating event of our Harmony Day program that focuses on celebrating diversity, inclusivity, and unity. Students will run or walk through a designated colour run course while being showered with vibrant coloured powders, symbolising diversity and the importance of harmony in our community.

The funds raised from the Harmony Day Colour Run will directly contribute to school upgrades and programs aimed at enhancing the educational experience for our students. Whether it's improving facilities, providing resources for extracurricular activities, or supporting initiatives that promote learning enrichment, every dollar raised will make a tangible difference in the lives of our students.

I encourage everyone to donate to our ACPS Harmony Day Colour Run via the link below and to share this link more broadly with extended family and friends to sponsor your child’s House by donating an amount of their choice. We will be running this fundraiser as a House Competition to see which House can raise the most money. The winning House will win a special House Celebration!

Bush Dance

To mix things ups from our usual student Disco we have booked in an upcoming ACPS Bush Dance hosted by locally renowned two piece band Bushwazee! I have used this band in both primary and secondary schools previously and they really do run a great night. Mark your calendars for Tuesday, March 26th, from 6:00 to 7:30 pm.

We will run it as one whole school session which is suitable for students from Prep to Grade 6, parents are welcome to stay to help supervise the younger students.

Purchase a couple of slices of pizza when you book your ticket and join us at 6pm for a Pizza dinner before the big event.

Please encourage your children to embrace the theme and don their best bush attire.
