NEURODIVERSITY
It's Neurodiversity Celebration week !!!!
Neurodiversity Celebration Week is a global movement designed to challenge stereotypes and misunderstandings surrounding neurological differences. It seeks to reshape perceptions and support for neurodivergent individuals by highlighting their diverse talents and strengths. Through this initiative, schools, universities, and organizations have the opportunity to foster more inclusive and equitable cultures that celebrate differences and empower all individuals.
When it comes to inclusion, neurodiversity refers to a world where neurological differences are recognised and respected as all other human variations.
Depending on how our brains are wired we think, move, process information and communicate in different ways. Many people in our community use neurodiversity as an umbrella term used to describe alternative thinking styles such as Dyslexia, DCD (Dyspraxia), Dyscalculia, Autism and ADHD. But regardless of labels, neurodiversity is about recognising those who think differently. And no matter whether you are in school, university or organisation you can benefit from different thinkers!
During this week, our students will engage in discussions in their Homegroup sessions and participate in activities aimed at providing a firsthand understanding of the experiences of neurodivergent individuals. These tasks will offer insights into the challenges they face in their daily lives. By promoting awareness and understanding, we aim to create a more supportive and inclusive environment for everyone.
