Swimming Carnival
Monday 12th of Feb was our first carnival for the year! Our Swimming Carnival at Oakleigh Recreation Centre. It was fair to say it was a sweltering 38+ degree day but the weather, music, vibe, and the water was perfect for our carnival.
Even though it was a hot day, students had a great day out! We saw our year 7’s absolutely dominating swimming events and giving it a good go!! Some excellent participation from our last year swimming champions and new competitors going head-to-head in swimming events. We had some new swimming champions made while some students still held onto their swimming champions’ title for another year.
There was a lot happening outside of the pool too, we had our VM students creating activities and small side competitions for students to earn house points. The push up competition was very popular. Our House Leaders were sending out the House Spirit vines with their coloured dress ups, hair spray, nail polish and house body paint. In addition to this, we had fashion on the field ran by our House Captain and saw some excellent outfits from the carnival!
Thank you to all staff and all students who came to our whole school event. It was a successful day! BIG thank you to students who got out there and had a go and competed in our swimming events!!
The house winners were Gladstone!!
Thursday the 22nd of Feb our senior boys volleyball team went out for sport. The team were placed in a difficult pool from the get-go. They came up against Keysborough Acacia and fought hard but unfortunately fell short at the end. They were pumped in the second game against Dandenong and played very well to get a win. We then were playing off in the second-place pool and we played against SEDA and Noble Park and did well. The boys improved throughout the day which was great to see. All the boys played really well and contributed to a wonderful sporting day. Thank to you Mr. PK for taking the team out for sport!
Last Thursday, the senior girls played gallantly against quality opposition. The teamwork and camaraderie amongst all gave the girls a near win against (KBS) that eventually won the tournament going down 18-20 in the final set. Overall, a sensational effort by all and the girls can be proud of their efforts. Thank you to Mr. Shane for taking the team out for sport!
Our intermediate cricket team, girls/boy volleyball team and boys’ tennis team are out for sport today. The inter girls’ tennis team have qualified for regional! Stay tuned for more updates.
Thank you to all staff who ran training sessions and took our students out on sport. Sports would not be possible with the help and commitment from each of our staff. Thank you all of you that helped!
