with Rebecca, Brittlee, Toni & Matt

Hello Year Four families,

Junior School Council (JSC)

Firstly, we would like to congratulate all our wonderful students that volunteered to be JSC representatives. Each of the candidates presented well thought out and considerate speeches. Concluding the speeches, a vote in each grade took place and we are pleased to announce the following students have been elected as the Year 4 JSC representatives for 2023.

4G - Olivia A.

4E - Hunter C.

4S - Ava F.

Fortnightly Curriculum Focus

Literacy: In Reading, Year 4 students are building on their comprehension strategies through the novel Fearless Frederic by Felice Arena. Students have also continued to work on their personal reading goals.

In Writing, we have been exploring procedural texts and we have begun working through the Writing Process to create published pieces of work. Each week students have also been given time for independent writing and a “Quick Write”.

Numeracy:  In Numeracy, Year 4 students have focused on Addition and Subtraction. During this time students have participated in online programs such as Essential Assessment, reinforcing skills whilst targeting a specific individual goal. Students are also participating in differentiated tasks, hands on games and worded problems.

Inquiry: In week 3, students participated in an incursion from Mab About Science. In this incursion students learned about the different states of matter being Solid, Liquid and Gas. Students explored the different types of matter through experiments, applying heat, different types of liquids and working with dry ice.
