Year 5/6 Team News

with Laura, Christina, Emil, Molly, Bianca I, Kayleen, Steven & Melati

Hello Year 5/6 families,

Literacy

In literacy, our grade five and six students have been diving into the exciting world of “The Rebels of Mount Buffalo,” our new class novel. Additionally, they’ve embarked on the adventure of book clubs, fostering a love for reading and lively discussions. The focus has also turned to spelling, with a dedicated program, and we’re gearing up for an engaging unit on narrative writing.

Numeracy

In numeracy, we’ve been reinforcing our understanding of place value and delving into the realm of decimal numbers. The upcoming weeks hold exciting prospects as we set our sights on addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. The mathematical journey is sure to be both challenging and rewarding for our students.

Inquiry

Under the umbrella of Inquiry, our students have embarked on a captivating exploration of animal adaptations to different environments. This week, their learning became practical with an Aquarium excursion, allowing them to witness firsthand the wonders of the animal kingdom. From class discussions to real-world experiences, our students are discovering the marvels of the natural world.
