From the Principal
Sr Sandra Perrett ibvm (who also taught at our College years ago) wrote recently, ‘Being faithful to grace is to remember every day how relationships and encounters invite us to see goodness, to recognise graciousness, kindness and humility in ourselves, in others and in the way creation holds this grace as a gift for our health and well-being. Grace looks out for the other – always encouraging us to look for the greater good and the best in ourselves and each other.’
Wellbeing at the College is centred on the Ignatian concept of Cura Personalis, or the care of the whole person as a unique child of God. During last week’s Years 7 to 12 Parent Information Evening, the College’s newly developed Wellbeing Framework was launched by Vice Principal/Head of Secondary Shani Andrews. I commend Mrs Andrews for her leadership in the development of our new Framework, which has involved extensive collaboration with staff, students and parents.
Given that our new Wellbeing Framework is a whole College approach, within our Newsletter this week you will find specifics from both the Primary and Secondary Schools relating to each element of the framework:
- Nurturing an inclusive community through positive relationships and experiences
- Supporting individual growth and meaningful achievements
- Fostering optimal spiritual, physical and mental health
- Serving something or someone greater than yourself for the benefit of others
Finally, I extend my thanks to our Year 7 staff and students for their enthusiastic involvement in their Year 7 Camp during the week. All reports indicate that the camp proved to be the perfect opportunity to explore the essential elements of our new Wellbeing Framework as well as being a lot of fun!
