Paynesville Classic

Last weekend, the 2nd and 3rd March, some of our students participated in the Quick and Dirty challenge as part of the Paynesville Classic Boat Rally.  Teams were given 3 pieces of ply, some wooden sticks, endless cable ties and a special epoxy that they had to mix up themselves with varying results if the mix wasn’t 1/1.  Students had to come up with their own boat design and within 2.5 hours they had created their boats.  Overnight the boats cured, painting and decorations were added the following day.  Winds got to 45 km an hour, so the ‘course’ was adjusted.  All teams got into the water without incident (normally someone capsizes!) and made it across to another jetty.  It was a great experience for the young people who were very proud of the boats they created.
