Music Leaders
This week our music leaders were presented with certificates in the whole school assembly. Last week we were excited to announce our two music captains, Matilda and Taj and this week we are excited to announce our ensemble leaders.
They are:
Swing Band Leader: Cody
Band Leaders: Patrick and William
Strings Leader: Jarno
These students have already shown their commitment to the music program and we look forward to seeing them in these roles.
Wild and Windy Performance
Our first official performance of the year for the Swing Band was at the Paynesville Classic Boat Festival on Sunday. Despite gale force winds (which saw many boating events cancelled), the band gave a stellar performance to a large, enthusiastic audience. We were armed with many pegs but still managed to give the audience some exercise when they had to chase music blown away in the wind. As is tradition, our 2023 year 12 students returned for this performance and it was great to have Aleka back wowing audiences with her amazing singing. A huge congratulations to the students, especially new members of the band and a big thank you to parents for assisting with the transport of gear and the set up.
Music Recruitment
There are still places available for students to learn an instrument. Students interested in learning trombone, flute and clarinet should return forms to the music centre. We are now not taking any further enrolments on violin, percussion, saxophone or electric bass.
Junior ensembles will start in the next few weeks after the students have had a few lessons. Keep your eye on Compass.
