From the Very Beginning…

Catherine Fernihough - Deputy Head of Primary, Head of Junior Primary

Squeals of surprise filled the air as our students viewed a montage of photos highlighting life at DCC from the very beginning. Last week we were overwhelmingly blessed to collectively gather as a whole school community from Prep to Year 12 to celebrate and honour Founders' Day, 49 years on.

The time we spent together was rich, as students and staff alike heard stories of God's incredible faithfulness and provision throughout the generations. David Dawson passionately spoke about the vision of our founding families and their sincere desire and commitment in pursuing the dream God placed within their hearts. He empowered each individual to rise up and take the baton from those who had gone before, boldly stepping into the purpose to which God called them. What an incredibly stirring challenge for us all!

We have commenced our year, immersing students in the truth that they have been made in His image to flourish! As our students pursue a deeper understanding of their true identify in Christ, they have been actively exploring what it means to use their gifts and talents to purposefully impact the lives of others.

Our God is incredible and Jeremiah 29:11 serves as a beautiful reminder that He has a plan for each one of us. As our students delve into a greater understanding of who God has created them to be, our deep hope and prayer is that each one would trust in the Lord with all their heart and lean not on their own understanding, but rather in all their ways submit to Him.

We desire to see our students pressing into Christ and looking to Him to find their true identity and purpose, so that they can use their God-given talents and passions to sow a flourishing community, both now and in the years to come!
