Halfway through term 4 already. Swimming has just begun and the kids are loving it! check out what else is happening.
Reading: For our reading we have continued our small group guided reading sessions. These small groups give students and the teacher an opportunity to work in a close environment, assessing fluency, comprehension and other reading skills. We are reading Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone as our class novel this term. It has been a joy to watch students fall in love with this story and world as we all did when we first read the story.
Writing: In writing, students have been learning about persuasive texts. Students have been working hard to build a convincing persuasive on the topic "should children have social media?". They have learnt how to create strong arguments, and include persuasive devices like exaggeration and rhetorical questions in their writing.
Maths: We have finished our unit on money and it was great to see lots of growth in students understanding. We are now working on the fascinating topic of angles. First we are learning the types angles, soon we will learn to measure the angles with the appropriate tools.
Humanities: We have begun unpacking our new History topic of Landmarks. The Students will soon begin a partner project, researching a landmark of their choosing and finding the history of how it came to be.
UKCies: Ultimate Kickball Championships has been heating up, students have taken to the game in great attitude. Noticeably it has been amazing to see the high level of sportsmanship across all the teams. They can be seen cheering on opponents, being honest with the rules even when it isn't in their favour and even agreeing with the umpires.
