Library News

As we head into the end of the term and the academic year, the library has been very busy with students spending time studying for exams, asking for assistance with their resources (forgotten calculators, pencils, rulers), or just wanting a chat about how they went on their exams. Before school and homework club have also been full of students catching up on tasks and submitting their assignments. We thank the Learning Support officers' team for their unending patience and assistance with the students. The library is also the home of the MEEP and ISP classes, both valuable programs that provide differentiated instructions for small groups of students.

50 Year Celebration

Sunday 26 October was a culmination of many, many hours of planning, collating, printing and displaying a range of memorabilia and photographs celebrating the 50th Year of Marist Sion College Warragul. The library was destined to be the home of historic documents, photos and items such as trophies, uniforms, and other displays. Mrs Donna Davidson delved into history and some very dusty tubs to collect and display the memories. Donna created presentations for each decade with hundreds of photos for visitors to peruse and discuss.

On that day, we had hundreds of visitors looking at the photos, reminiscing about old times at the school and sharing stories and anecdotes. We also had many visitors taking the opportunity to visit our school for future students.  We would love to thank the ‘history brains trust’ who were able to answer the questions posed by the visitors – Sharon, Catherine and Julie.

We also had four amazing Library Ambassadors who greeted guests and gave ‘older’ visitors a snapshot of life at Marist-Sion College in 2025! Thanks to Harry Herra, Nara Zhang, Elise and Gemma Thomas. Thanks also to Donna and Erin Gaze for the hours spent organising the library displays and presentations, including a Children’s Corner with playdoh and beadmaking activities.
