Student Learning & Growth

As we approach the conclusion of another busy and rewarding school year, we take this opportunity to acknowledge the efforts, achievements and growth of our students across all year levels. November is always a time of reflection and anticipation, a period where we celebrate what has been accomplished and look forward to the new beginnings that await in 2026.

Celebrating the Class of 2025

Our senior students continue to demonstrate commitment and perseverance as the VCAA examinations draw to a close on 19 November. We commend our Year 12 students for their diligence, courage and faith throughout this concluding stage of their education. Their focus and determination are a testament to the learning culture that thrives within our community. We wish them every success as they await their results and prepare for life beyond the College gates.

Commissioning of 2026 College Leaders

On Sunday 16 November, we will celebrate the Commissioning of our 2026 College Leaders. This special ceremony recognises those students who have been chosen to serve their peers and the wider College community through leadership, faith and example. We look forward to welcoming them into their new roles and entrusting them with the responsibility of continuing to build a community rooted in service, respect and the values of the Gospel.

End of Semester and Examinations

The academic year officially concludes for most students on 19 November, as we bring Semester 2 to a close. The following day, 20 November, marks the beginning of examinations for Years 9, 10 and 11. These exams are an important opportunity for students to consolidate their learning and demonstrate understanding. We encourage all students to approach their exams with confidence and preparation, drawing on the support of their teachers and families.

Valedictory Graduation Ceremony and Dinner

A highlight of the month will be the Valedictory Graduation Ceremony and Dinner on 21 November, where we gather to honour the Class of 2025. This evening is a joyous celebration of friendship, perseverance and achievement and is always a fitting conclusion to six years of learning and growth.

Recognising Excellence and Looking Ahead

As we transition towards 2026, students undertaking VET programs will participate in Orientation Day on 26 November, while our community will gather on 27 November for the Evening of Excellence. This event recognises outstanding academic achievement, dedication to learning and contributions to College life. Full details of our award winners will be published in the December issue of Emmaus.

For Years 9, 10 and 11, 28 November will provide an exam catch-up day, while Years 7, 8 and 9 will continue with a normal school day. The following week, the 2026 Commencement Program begins for our incoming Year 11 and 12 students, giving them an early start on their studies and the opportunity to set clear intentions for the new year ahead.

Finishing the Year with Gratitude and Determination

As we move through these final weeks, we remind all students to finish strongly — to stay focused, make the most of every learning opportunity and continue to show respect for themselves and others. Parents and carers play an essential role in providing encouragement, structure and support during this busy time. Together, we can help our young people prepare well for assessments, reflect on their learning and look with hope and excitement to the new year.

May these closing weeks be marked by gratitude, determination and faith as we celebrate all that has been achieved in 2025 and prepare for the promise of 2026.
