Principals Report

Dear Parents, Families and Friends,

As we approach the end of another wonderful year at St Mary’s, we reflect on the growth, achievements, and memorable moments that have defined 2025. It has been a year of exciting learning and growth, teh addition of our sensory garden and chook pen and a strong comeback to the Energy Breakthrough Challenge.

As Christmas approaches, we look forward to celebrating the season together with our school community. The end of year will be marked by a special Graduation Evening for our Class of 2025, where we will honour their hard work, resilience, and achievements. It will be a night to remember, full of joy and celebration.

A BYO picnic meal with some casual Christmas carols from the students will follow the evening. It’s a perfect way to wrap up a year full of growth and embrace the festive spirit.

Staffing Updates  -

While it is always difficult to see a valued team member move on, I would like to take a moment to acknowledge the dedication and care shown Mrs Carly Bannan who will be leaving St Mary’s at the end of this year to take up a full-time classroom teaching position at St Augustine’s in Maryborough. This is a wonderful opportunity for Carly to continue developing her career and to share her talents and passion with a new school community.

During her time at St Mary’s, Carly has made a lasting impact on our students and staff. Her warmth, creativity and dedication have enriched so many aspects of school life. Carly’s love of art and music has brought great joy to our classrooms, inspiring creativity and confidence in our learners. Her genuine care and enthusiasm for supporting students through the MHiPS program have also been deeply appreciated by our community.

We thank Carly for her many contributions and the positive energy she has brought to our school. She will be missed, but we are excited for the next chapter in her teaching journey at St Augustine’s. As we look forward to 2026, it is my pleasure to welcome Brianna Gleisner to the role of MHiPS.

Looking ahead to 2026, there is already a buzz amongst staff as they have been participating in professional development opportunities to ensure we continue providing the best teaching and learning practices.

On a personal note, thank you to the staff, parents and community who have passed on their condolences regarding the loss of my father this week, Bernie O'Shannessy.

To conclude, on behalf of all of the staff, we wish all our students and families a joyful and restful Christmas holiday. Thank you for your continued support throughout the year—we look forward to seeing you in the new year, ready for even more exciting experiences and achievements!

Kind Regards,
