Principal's Report
Friday 31st October 2025

Dear Parents and Carers
It’s hard to believe how quickly this term is moving along! With only a few weeks left in the school year, there is plenty happening in and around our community, so I encourage you to take the time to read through this newsletter carefully to stay up to date with all that’s ahead.
Our students have been working incredibly hard in their learning, and our dedicated staff continue to support and inspire them through engaging teaching and meaningful experiences. This Friday, we celebrate the Feast of All Saints. This is a special day in the Church’s calendar when we honour all the saints, known and unknown, who have lived lives of holiness and faithfulness to God. It’s a wonderful reminder of the call we each share to live with love, kindness, and faith in our daily lives.

Whole School Mass
This morning at 9.30am families were invited to join the school to celebrate the Feast of All Saints and Missions. Following the mass, as part of Socktober, the children will come back to school for a special activity using their class socks of coins they have been collecting. The money raised from Socktober goes to Catholic Missions which is a Pontifical Catholic Charity which all Catholic Schools in Australia are committed to support. Today, Fr Paddy will be welcoming the Skewes children into our catholic church which is a very special faith milestone for them all. Thank you to Fr Paddy for celebrating the mass today and Mrs Salmon and Mrs Kerr who have been organising the mass.

World Teacher Appreciation Day
Today we also celebrate World Teacher Appreciation Day. It is a special opportunity to recognise and thank our wonderful teachers for the incredible work they do each and every day at St Joseph’s. Our teachers give so much of themselves, sharing their knowledge, faith, creativity, and nurturing to help every child learn, grow, and thrive. They guide our students not only in their studies, but also in developing values of compassion, respect, and commitment that reflect our Catholic mission. We are truly blessed to have such dedicated and passionate educators who make a difference in the lives of our children and our whole school community. Hats off to our teachers!
Joey’s Cup
Next Tuesday we celebrate the race that stops the school - The Joey’s Cup. We are so very grateful for our generous sponsors who have donated to our school for this event. Our aim was to raise $6,500.00 for a shade sail and cover for the sandpit, and our sponsorship has raised $6,600.00! This is an incredible effort from our community businesses who have sponsored our staff jockey’s for Tuesday’s race!
THANK YOU - The businesses who have sponsored are displayed further in our newsletter. As well as racing their own races, children can participate in Fashions on the Field, by bringing in a hat/fascinator (girls) and a tie/hat (boys). Fashions on the Field will take place after the student races and before the staff race. Entertainment will be provided by the students for those attending the luncheon. A special thank you to Mrs Becci Brabin, Mrs Amanda Riley and all the team that has supported them in preparing for this event.
Canteen Helpers
I would like to acknowledge and thank the parents that assist in the school canteen. Parents have been very generous with their time to prepare , serve food and in providing baking to ensure our canteen can continue to stay open and prosper. The monies raised go towards resources needed for our school.
SJJU Social and Fundraising Committee
A special thank you to the parents who came along to last weeks final SJJU Social and Fundraising committee meeting. As mentioned, early preparations are underway for the Joey’s Cup on Tuesday and the committee planned the major fundraisers for next year which will be published before the end of the year along with a total of funds raised.
St Joey’s is so very blessed and lucky to have such a generous, supportive group of parents who are so giving of their time and money to provide the best quality catholic education for our students. THANK YOU to each and every one of you.
Kinder 2026 Orientation Day
We welcome our Kinder 2026 children today for their second Orientation Day. They had a wonderful day last week and today will be even better! The children were very settled and comfortable with the school environment. Thank you Mrs Brady for your guidance and nurturing of the children during Orientation.
Stage 2 Excursion to Yarrangabilly Caves
Next Friday, Stage 2 will be heading to the Yarrangibilly Caves for their day excursion. We hope they have an enjoyable day and I’m sure there will be lots of learning taking place.
Have a wonderful weekend.
God Bless
Angela Scott
