Dear parents and carers,
In the Roman Catholic tradition, the feast of All Saints is celebrated on 1st of November followed by the feast of All Souls on 2nd of November. The celebrations of All Saints and All Souls recalls those who now share in the gift of eternal life those who now see God face to face.
Saints are those formally recognised by the Catholic Church as living lives faithful to the gospel. The Feast of All Souls remembers all the departed recognising their gift of new life. Within the Catholic tradition, life after death is changed but not ended. During the month of November, we recall those who have died.
As a Catholic school, we do not celebrate Halloween at school. While we understand that some families may choose to take part in community activities, our focus remains on honouring traditions that reflect our Catholic faith and values.
As a Catholic community, we take this time of year to focus on the true meaning behind All Hallows’ Eve (Halloween), All Saints’ Day (November 1), and All Souls’ Day (November 2). These days are an important part of our faith tradition, a time to remember, honour and give thanks for the saints and all those who have gone before us. While Halloween has become a popular cultural event, its modern celebrations often overlook its Christian origins. As a Catholic school, we choose not to celebrate Halloween.
Over the holidays our school community sadly experienced the passing of two parents, Mr Valentino Lunardi husband of Sabrina and father to Christian (Year 12) Sebastian (Year 8) and Angelica in (Year 2) and Mr George Fernandes, husband to Carloyn and father to Isaiah (Year 1).
We will gather for a Whole School prayer in memory of Valentino and George on Thursday, October 30th at 9:00am in the school hall. Students are invited to bring a single flower from their garden for this prayer celebration. All families are warmly welcome to attend.
We keep the Lunardi and Fernandes families in our thoughts and prayers as they grieve the loss of their loved ones. May they find comfort in the love and support of our school community.
Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them.
May they rest in peace
AMEN

World Teachers' Day honours teachers, whose passion and hard work make a real difference to student’s lives every day. In Victoria, we celebrate World Teachers’ Day on Friday 31 October. We encourage you to say thanks to the teachers who inspire you every day. Parents and carers are also welcome to say thank you to their child’s teacher, or even help with a morning tea for teachers.
Today we welcomed our new Foundation students and families for their first transition session to St Fidelis. Over the next month, the new Foundation students will come to school for four transition sessions to spend time in the learning spaces and to experience different aspects of school life. During these four sessions the parents will meet with members of the leadership team to hear about Literacy, Numeracy, Wellbeing and other aspects of life at St Fidelis.

Each year our children enter the annual Pascoe Vale Electorate Draw a Christmas Card Competition. Last week your child would have received a template for them to draw their picture.
Students are asked to submit their drawings to their classroom teacher by October 27th.
This year’s theme is "If you could wrap our Community in one gift of kindness this Christmas, what would it look like?” The winning design will appear on a Christmas Card and message to be distributed across the community. With full credit given to the winning student, prizes include;
A huge thank you to everyone who came along to our recent School Working Bee! It was marvellous to see so many helping hands come together, truly making light work of a big job.
A special thank you to Anthony Brazel for organising all the equipment we needed, and to The Village Bakery for providing a delicious breakfast to keep our volunteers fuelled.
Your support and generosity make such a difference thank you!

We’re looking forward to a fantastic day of fun, teamwork and school spirit at our upcoming Athletics Day! It’s always a highlight on our school calendar and a wonderful opportunity to celebrate participation, effort and encouragement.
A big thank you to Mick for his organisation and preparation, and to our staff for their support in making the day such a success.
