PE & Sports Update

PE
There was a buzz coming from the gym all week as class after class visited for PE.
"have you seen the new stickers", " the gym walls look awesome", "did you paint them all yourself Mr Jenkins?" were just some of the comments.
Thanks to the Jells Park Parent Committee, we had a massive upgrade to our Gym walls. From colourful targets, letters and numbers to famous inspirational quotes, tennis nets, school values, Zones of Regulation and soccer/AFL goals there are now a range of interactive zones for use around the walls. The back corner is also full of health education including Healthy eating tips, exercise plans and 2 huge human bodies for learning about bones, muscles and body systems. Make sure you check it out next time you get a chance.
Thanks again to the Parent Committee who have had a huge impact on our school this year with new soccer nets, goal post pads and now the gym update.
State Athletics
Last week, Jells Park had 2 representatives at the State Athletics Competition.
Isabella A (Level 4) competed in the Under 10 Girls High Jump Competition.
This was here first appearance at State level and she performed amazingly against some tough competition. Isabella managed to clear a height of 1.28m which placed her in equal 3rd position. After a count back, her final result was 4th position.
This is the highest placing that Jells Park has received for the high jump event.
Congratulations Isabella and we look forward to your future years of dominance in Athletics.
Maggie K (Level 5) entered in 3 events for the Multi Class category.
Her 200 m race was extremely quick and unfortunately Maggie finished 5th in this event as she was up against some very fast girls.
Next was her shot put event which she threw a best distance of 3.86m which won her the Bronze Medal.
Her final and best event was the 800m. She won her race by over 30 seconds but after the classifications were calculated, she finished in second place.
A wonderful effort by Maggie and definitely a bright future in Athletics awaits her.
Maggie has also been selected for the Team Vic Athletics competition in Canberra laster this month as she competes against the best in Australia.
We wish her all the best and can’t wait to hear about her results.
2025 Hooptime Basketball
This year, we have had over 150 students participate in the Junior and Senior Hooptime basketball program. Teams of all abilities students have had fun Round Robin days playing against other schools during Term 3.
Out of all out Teams, we had 4 progress through to the regional competitions this term
- Junior Future Star Girls
- Junior All Star Boys
- Senior Future Star Boys
- Senior All Star Boys
Congratulations to all the students who played in these teams. It is a terrific effort to make it through to this level. Unfortunately 2 of these teams did not progress through to State Level.
The Senior Future Star Boys team came up against some very tough competition but tried their hardest throughout the day.
Recently, our Junior All Star Boys team had a terrific round robin component, finishing top of their Pool. They played in the final against a very evenly matched team. The scores were tied after regular play and they had to play 3 minutes of overtime. It was extremely exciting with a large crowd gathering around the court. After overtime, the scores were still tied and they played Golden Point, the first team to score wins. Unfortunately it did not go the way of Jells Park and they finished runners up. A terrific effort by the boys involved.
Our Junior Future Star Girls and Senior All Star Boys will be playing in the state competition in early December.
We wish these teams the best of luck for their upcoming day.
