Year 5 Excursion - MONA
Friday 31 October
On Friday 31 October, Year 5 is travelling to the Museum of Old & New Art (MONA) as a provocation for their final Inquiry, ‘How we express ourselves’. Students will explore the central idea, “Creative thinking unlocks a world of possibilities” as they look at different elements and purposes of art, consider perspective and react to different artworks. Students will leave school at 9.30am and travel to MONA by bus, returning at approximately 3.00pm. Full sports uniform is required to be worn, as well as a hat, water bottle, morning tea and lunch.
MONA has asked for the ratio to be 1 adult to 10 students. In order to facilitate these smaller groups of students exploring the museum with a supervising adult, parent helpers would be appreciated. Our volunteers require a current Working With Vulnerable People card and must be registered as a volunteer with the School. You can find the School’s volunteer registration form at this link. Please email your class teacher if you are able to assist. Parent helpers would need to meet us at MONA.

Year 6 Coastal Outdoor Education Day
Monday 3 November
On Monday 3 November Year 6 students will participate in a Coastal Outdoor Education Day at Taroona Beach. This day is designed to build students’ confidence, teamwork, and understanding of Tasmania’s unique marine environments. We will be leaving school at 9.00am and returning by 3.15pm.
Throughout the day, students will rotate through a series of engaging, hands-on activities including an introduction to water safety, rock pool discovery and coastal ecology, beach games and team challenges, and a coastal preparedness workshop focusing on how to dress and prepare for aquatic activities.
This experience supports students’ transition to Middle School Outdoor Education by developing essential skills such as risk awareness, environmental responsibility and teamwork in outdoor settings. It also deepens their appreciation for the natural coastal ecosystems of southern Tasmania, encouraging respect and care for the environment. All activities will take place under the guidance of qualified Outdoor Education staff and class teachers, with a strong focus on safety, respect, and positive participation.
